ALCOY, My Hometown :))

Alcoy is one of the municipalities in the province of Cebu, Philippines.
It is located SouthEastern part of Cebu province.
It is bounded by the municipalities of Dalaguete to the north, Boljoons. to the south, Badian and Alegria to the west, and Cebu Strait to the east.

Alcoy may be just a small town, still there are lots of things that  Alcoyanons should be proud of. Me, myself, and I are so proud of that :)
I could say that I am so blessed that I was born in this place because this place has the things or tourists spots that other places don't have.

This place is also considered as the Home of the largest population of the "Black-Shama", locally known as SILOY.

It is a bird species which can only be found in the Philippines.   This bird is known to be secretive; it hides in shaded crevices of limestone forest but is often heard at dawn and dust. It is never be mistaken that it is the black shama's melodious call. The bird is believed to feed mainly on insects such as the beetles but is observed to occasionally prey on eggs of other birds.   And Alcoy is the lucky place that the Siloy birds have choosen to live in.

The Forest in Alcoy which is located in Barangay Nug-as is called the "Mag-abu Forest". It is where the siloy birds live and of course, the people in Alcoy are very much concerned about the birds, so the said Forest is properly taken cared of by the people especially to the people who are residing near the Forest.

This is the way in going to the Mag-abu Forest. We really enjoy in going towards the place. It feels so cold. HAHA. (coz it was our first time man gud)

This is the Mag-abu Forest. I've been there when I was in 3rd year high school together with my classmates and our adviser and some of our teachers were also there with us. It's so slippery in the forest, it's good thing that you have to have a forest warden to accompany with you in having tour within the forest.

Richard Guttierez had also gone into this forest. It has been said that they took the taping for his show in the forest. Imagine, Richard is so interesting in that place. We really so proud of that.

We conquered Mag-abu forest :))
And that wasn't possible without the aid of our forest warden (that man wearing yellow t-shirt)
Sorry I forgot his name already, that was 2 years ago . hehe. when I was still 3rd year H.S student  :)

Siloy is included as one of the celebrated Festivals in Cebu provinces, so protection of the species have raised awareness among the public.
Every August, Alcoy is celebrating the town fiesta in honor of our town patron Sta. Rosa de Lima. We used to have Siloy Festival in our town.

Below are few pictures showing the siloy festival in our town :)

The next beautiful destination in Alcoy is the "Tingko Beach" located at Daanlungsod, Alcoy, Cebu. Some of the people said that Tingko is the "Little Boracay in Cebu" because of the white sand in the beach. And for you to believe that, I let you see some pictures of it below.
